Carlos Abaunza has been appointed General Manager of The Ritz-Carlton, Cancun announced Mark Ferland, Area Vice President of the Southern Region for The Ritz-Carlton Hotel Company, L.L.C. With extensive hospitality experience spanning over two decades, Abaunza will oversee all operations for the award-winning oceanfront resort.

Abaunza brings a wealth of experience complemented by a strong leadership background to the position after serving in the hospitality industry for over 20 years. Prior to his role at The Ritz-Carlton, Cancun, Abaunza most recently served as general manager at the Hilton Cancun Golf & Spa Resort for five years where he oversaw the operations of the 426-room destination spa and golf hotel.
Abaunza attended Cornell University’s prestigious General Manager’s program in Ithaca, New York.
